Biip

The Biological Diversity Information System (BĮIP) is a comprehensive platform dedicated to the collection, management, analysis, and presentation of biodiversity data in Lithuania. Aimed at ensuring the preservation and restoration of biodiversity, BĮIP offers a wide range of services, including registration of protected species and their habitats, monitoring of wildlife, and the management of hunting and fishing data. This innovative system also maintains a database for genetically modified organisms (GMO), tracks invasive and foreign species, and provides essential reports on wildlife captures and populations.

Funded by the European Union's cohesion funds, the project is implemented by the Ministry of Environment along with its affiliated institutions. BĮIP is a vital resource for researchers, conservationists, and policymakers, facilitating informed decision-making based on scientific indicators. By embracing digital advancements, BĮIP is poised to play a crucial role in environmental governance and biodiversity conservation efforts across the region.
