Bikkels on Bikes is the travel and fundraising project of Rick and Sven, two Dutch cyclists documenting their journey from Rijnsaterwoude to Vietnam. Setting off on 10 March 2024, they planned to cover nearly 20,000 kilometres by bicycle, crossing numerous countries on the way. Their website brings together travel blogs and stories about the people, places and challenges they encounter, alongside a roadmap of the planned route. Visitors can follow their updates through Instagram and TikTok, where the pair share travel videos, and read new blog posts published every two weeks.
The journey also supports Coop Africa, or Cycling out of Poverty Africa, a Dutch organisation that provides bicycles to students, health volunteers, farmers and small business owners in Kenya and Uganda. The initiative aims to improve access to education, healthcare, work and income. Bikkels on Bikes invites visitors to contribute to its fundraising effort, learn about the sponsors supporting the adventure, or get in touch about becoming a sponsor. The project combines long-distance cycling, travel storytelling and charitable fundraising.
