Bilboko Konpartsak is the federation of Bilbao’s festive collectives, bringing together groups that help create and sustain the city’s popular celebrations. Its best-known focus is Aste Nagusia, Bilbao’s annual festival, where the collectives build and operate 27 txosnas—community festival stalls—and organize a broad public programme. Activities include gastronomic contests, live music, traditional sports, a city race, skating, water polo, chess, board games and other competitions. The federation also promotes Carnival events, San Tomas celebrations, a summer solstice gathering called Suaren Gaua, and the Txosnagane walking event.
Through its website, Bilboko Konpartsak shares festival programmes, news, participation opportunities and information about its member groups. It also highlights initiatives intended to make celebrations welcoming and safer, including protocols against sexist, racist, fascist, anti-Basque-language and anti-LGBTQ+ attacks. The federation supports the use of Euskara and community solidarity, and offers ways for people to get involved as members.
