Bildt

Släkten Bildt is a family community and genealogy-focused organisation that shares the history and activities of the Bildt family and its association. Just over fifty people carry the Bildt surname, while the Bildtska family association has slightly more than one hundred members. The family’s history spans Denmark, Norway and Sweden. In Denmark, its roots are mainly in Vendsyssel and Thy, north of the Limfjord; in Norway, family members lived around Bergen, Fredrikstad and Sarpsborg. In Sweden, they lived on Morlanda in Orust and later mostly around Stockholm.

The family brings together people from many generations and walks of life, including students, filmmakers, writers, business owners, teachers and military officers. Carl Bildt is its best-known contemporary member, while his ancestor Gillis Bildt served as a prime minister, field marshal and marshal of the realm. The association aims to connect members and contribute to society. Its annual activities include recognising courage and positive role models through the “Årets Förebild(t)” award.
