Bindelong

Bindelong Aboriginal Corporation is an Aboriginal-owned and operated not-for-profit organisation established in 2024. Based in Newcastle, New South Wales, it is committed to caring for Country and supporting communities’ continuing connection to culture. Its work combines Aboriginal knowledge, practices and skills with contemporary environmental methods through two-way knowledge sharing.

The organisation provides holistic land management services, including culturally informed approaches that draw on traditional practices, western science and modern land care techniques. Its cultural, cool and ecological burning services are designed to reduce fuel loads while supporting the ecological health and cultural significance of the land. Bindelong also offers land management training, capacity-building programs, Aboriginal cultural education, awareness and truth-telling workshops, and authentic on-Country cultural experiences.

Its team includes local Aboriginal Elders, Knowledge Holders and Fire Practitioners representing diverse Nations across New South Wales. Team expertise spans land management, ecosystems, archaeology, firefighting and burn planning, training, horticulture and other fields. Through these services, Bindelong aims to empower Aboriginal people and communities while strengthening connections between Country, community and culture.
