About Binger Loch
Binger Loch Webcam is a private initiative documenting the Binger Loch, a notable stretch of the Rhine within the UNESCO World Heritage Site Upper Middle Rhine Valley. The website gives visitors a live view of the river, updating its webcam images every 10 seconds, and publishes daily time-lapse videos showing the day from sunrise to sunset. Its video archive lets users browse past recordings, while sections highlight popular and highly rated videos. Visitors can also rate videos, leave comments, and connect with other Rhine enthusiasts.
The site introduces the Binger Loch’s history and setting near Bingen am Rhein. The Rhine narrows here to about 300 metres between the Mäuseturm and the opposite bank. Once considered a hazardous passage for shipping because of shallows, strong currents, and rocks, it is now navigable following modern channel deepening. Alongside its webcam and archive, Binger Loch Webcam provides links to local tourism and public information resources, including Bingen am Rhein, Mainz-Bingen district, and Bingen Touristik.
