BIOCAM

BIOCAM Scarl is a public-private partnership based in Campania, Italy, focused on translational medicine and the development of health technologies. It aims to strengthen the region’s network of companies working in biotechnology, nanotechnology and information and communication technology, while supporting industrial growth and employment. BIOCAM’s activities span biopharmaceuticals, biomarkers, biobanks, biomaterials and biomedical devices, alongside research projects, training, patent support and project management.

The organisation seeks to advance products in areas where local industry has limited activity. Its priorities include potential medicines for cerebral ischemia and neurodegenerative diseases, and treatments for cancers resistant to multiple drugs. It also works toward diagnostic kits based on new disease biomarkers, improved sample-tracking and intelligent cryopreservation systems for biobanks, and biomaterials and cellular systems to help regenerate tissue removed during head and neck cancer surgery. In addition, BIOCAM promotes intelligent assistive devices designed to address limitations in existing aids and increase independence for people with disabilities. Through collaboration across research and industry, BIOCAM connects scientific development with prospective healthcare applications.
