UN Biodiversity

**Biodiversity-CHM.NL** serves as the Dutch node of the Clearing House Mechanism within the framework of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). This central web portal is dedicated to fostering communication and awareness surrounding biodiversity policies in the Netherlands. The mission of Biodiversity-CHM.NL is to provide comprehensive access to vital biodiversity information, emphasizing the significance of preserving the planet's diverse ecosystems.

Biodiversity, encompassing all life forms from minute bacteria to vast forests, is essential for sustaining human life by providing clean water, fertile soil, and resources such as food and medicine. However, it faces significant threats from climate change, pollution, and resource overexploitation. Biodiversity-CHM.NL aims to combat these challenges by promoting collaboration among governments, citizens, companies, and non-governmental organizations.

Through informative resources, data archives, and expert guidance, Biodiversity-CHM.NL supports sustainable practices and policies to protect natural resources and ensure a balanced ecosystem for future generations.
