The BIOEAST Initiative is a dynamic collaboration aimed at fostering sustainable bioeconomies in Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries. Established to address the region's unique challenges, BIOEAST promotes research, innovation, and transnational cooperation in agriculture, aquaculture, forestry, and environmental management. This initiative emerged in response to the substantial growth in these sectors driven by the European Union's Common Agricultural Policy.

BIOEAST serves as a strategic framework to enable member states—such as Bulgaria, Hungary, and Poland—to share knowledge and resources effectively while tackling climate change and promoting sustainable practices. It focuses on bridging disparities in research and innovation capacities across the macro-region, facilitating the implementation of tailored actions for sustainable development.

Central to BIOEAST's mission are seven overarching principles that guide its operations and objectives.
