Biography

The Dictionary of Welsh Biography is a comprehensive online resource dedicated to preserving and celebrating the contributions of over five thousand individuals who have significantly impacted Welsh national life and beyond. This extensive collection of concise biographies serves as an invaluable tool for researchers, educators, and anyone interested in exploring Wales's rich history. Although the website has transitioned to a static format for cybersecurity reasons, its content remains accessible for consultation.

The Dictionary will continue to evolve, with new articles being introduced through collaboration with the University of Wales Centre for Advanced Welsh and Celtic Studies. As part of the Welsh Government's Anti-Racist Wales Action Plan, the Diversity Project aims to enhance the representation of Wales's diverse history by actively seeking new authors to contribute biographies of underrepresented individuals. By doing so, the Dictionary of Welsh Biography will ensure continuous growth and relevance, making it a vital resource for understanding Wales's collective heritage
