BIONEXT is a research and innovation project that aims to address the critical issue of biodiversity loss. Their goal is to generate new evidence and understanding of the importance of biodiversity in every aspect of life, such as water, food, and health. To achieve this, BIONEXT brings together scientists from various fields to develop science-based solutions for reversing biodiversity loss. They collaborate with organizations like the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services and EU policymakers to create practical and effective strategies. BIONEXT offers a range of tools and solutions, including an innovative nexus modelling framework that captures the interlinkages between biodiversity, climate change, food, water, energy, transport, and health.

They also provide a database of transformative change cases and a Pathways app, which allows policymakers to explore different building blocks for creating just transition pathways. By sharing their findings and contributing to science brokerage, capacity building, and networking, BIONEXT aims to mainstream biodiversity into EU policymaking and governance. Through their research and innovation, BIONEXT is working towards a sustainable and nature-positive future
