About Bioregistry
Bioregistry is an open-source and community-curated brand that serves as a registry, meta-registry, and compact identifier (CURIE) resolver. It offers a comprehensive range of services and products to support the scientific and research community. The Bioregistry serves as a registry that collects prefixes and metadata for various ontologies, controlled vocabularies, and semantic spaces.
It also acts as a metaregistry by providing metadata about other registries and mappings between their constituent prefixes. As a resolver, Bioregistry offers a tool for mapping compact URIs (CURIEs) to find HTML and structured content providers. Being open-source, Bioregistry encourages community engagement and contributions.
The underlying database is stored in JSON on GitHub, enabling anyone to suggest improvements or make pull requests, ensuring an open review process. The brand is governed by well-defined contribution guidelines, a code of conduct, and project governance to promote inclusivity and longevity. With its user-friendly interface, researchers and scientists can easily navigate the comprehensive collections, request prefixes, and access the extensive data available.
Developed by the INDRA Lab in the Harvard Program in Therapeutic Science and funded by the DARPA Young Faculty Award, Bioregistry is dedicated to advancing scientific collaborations and providing valuable resources to the research community
