Bios Cabo Verde

BIOS Cabo Verde is an environmental organization focused on conserving marine and coastal biodiversity and supporting sustainable development across the Cabo Verde archipelago. Its work is guided by the belief that nature conservation is most effective when it goes hand in hand with the well-being and participation of local communities. Through science, education and community involvement, the organization works to protect ecosystems and help safeguard the natural heritage on which future generations depend.

Its projects address several important groups of wildlife. On Boa Vista, BIOS Cabo Verde monitors and protects loggerhead sea turtles at one of the world’s significant nesting areas. It also conducts monitoring and conservation programs for seabirds and birds of prey, and research and monitoring of cetaceans, including humpback whales, in Cabo Verde’s waters. The organization shares updates through news, reports and newsletters, and invites people to learn about its projects, team and work in the field. Volunteer opportunities include participation in a seasonal sea turtle nesting conservation program, where volunteers learn monitoring and conservation techniques.
