About BIPOC Support Foundation
The BIPOC Support Foundation in Escondido, CA is dedicated to empowering Black, Indigenous, and Persons of Color (BIPOC) communities by providing essential resources, education, mentorship, and economic support. Our mission is to break down racial, social, and economic barriers that hinder the thriving of these communities. We firmly believe that success is interconnected, and by improving the lives of adults, we enhance the education and future of children, thus benefiting individuals and communities across the United States.
Led by a diverse group of individuals who intimately understand the challenges faced by local communities of color, including our Founder and Executive Director DeMilo Young, we have a unique position in San Diego's diverse community. Our programming focuses on fostering multicultural understanding, place-based learning, stewardship of the local environment, and personal growth. We aim to create a world where BIPOC individuals co-exist equitably among their educated non-BIPOC allies, rejoicing in the complexity of our shared humanity.
Investing in our youth is investing in our future. That's why we offer programs like Explore Next Door, a youth enrichment program that provides disadvantaged San Diego youth with a robust toolbox of skills for long-term success and offers childcare for low-income families. We also have the Scholastic Opportunity for Academic Readiness (SOAR) Afterschool Program, designed to support marginalized K-3rd grade students and close the achievement gap through innovative academic curriculum, individualized case management, socioemotional wellness tools, and enriching activities.
