BitDesigners Africa is a community dedicated to helping African designers learn about Bitcoin and create accessible, intuitive products for the ecosystem. Its mission combines education, collaboration, and open-source participation, connecting designers with peers and opportunities to develop their skills and contribute to Bitcoin projects.
The organization offers a 12-week cohort for aspiring, junior, and professional designers, including those without prior Bitcoin experience. Participants begin with Bitcoin design foundations, covering the history, principles, and economics relevant to product design. They then form small teams to work on projects from the Bitcoin Design community, developing and shipping design contributions with feedback and support.
Learning activities include courses through an online learning platform, workshops, practical design briefs, and community events. Members can build UI/UX, graphic, motion, brand, or communication design experience, share feedback, and explore potential freelance opportunities through their work. BitDesigners Africa also hosts in-person meetups, with past gatherings in Kaduna, Nairobi, and Abuja. Designers can apply to the Genesis Cohort or connect with the community through Discord.
