Blackfriars Restaurant

Blackfriars Restaurant is a traditional British dining destination in the heart of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, described as the oldest dining room in the UK. It brings together historic character, food and drink, and a wide range of experiences for visitors and local guests. The restaurant offers seasonal menus, including à la carte and set options, Sunday lunch, afternoon tea, a children’s menu, and menus for larger parties. Guests can also explore wine and drinks pairings, alongside special dining occasions such as seasonal dinners and tasting events.

Beyond restaurant dining, Blackfriars hosts beer, gin, rum, whisky and wine tastings, banqueting, private dining, weddings, celebrations and corporate events. Its spaces include a banquet hall, cloister garden, parlour bar, tasting room and meeting rooms. The brand also runs a cookery school, with weekday and weekend classes, chef’s table experiences and children’s classes, as well as medieval food and heritage tours. Gift vouchers and a brewery-related beer gift pack are also available, making Blackfriars a destination for dining, learning and events.
