Black Girls Do Run UK (BGDRUK) is a London-based running club/family that aims to inspire and motivate everyday black women in the UK to run. Founded by passionate runner Tasha Thompson in 2019, BGDRUK is both an online and in-person community platform dedicated to enhancing the representation of regular black women in the running community. The idea for BGDRUK was sparked by Tasha's observation that while there was great representation of elite black women athletes in races, there was a lack of regular black women runners in attendance.

This, along with an uncomfortable incident with a race marshal, prompted Tasha to create a safe space where black women could run for enjoyment, friendship, health reasons, and be rewarded for their efforts by participating in races. BGDRUK aims to challenge the misconception that black women do not run by increasing their visibility on social media. The club is founded on the belief that ethnicity & culture matters in sport and physical activity, as highlighted by the Sport England report of 2020.

With a dedicated team of passionate runners, including Linda Agyemang, Sacha Lumley, Celeste Stevens, and Ann-Marie Kennedy, BGDRUK offers a supportive and empowering community for black women who want to embrace running as part of their wellness journey.
