Black Gold Family Farm (BGFF) is a family-owned Berkshire pig farm in Akron, Colorado, specializing in pasture-raised pork and, until 2026, live pigs and breeding stock with specialized bloodlines. The farm describes itself as a farrow-to-finish operation with more than 10 years of experience and offers meat through its online farm shop. From 2026, BGFF says it will no longer sell live pigs.
The pigs roam year-round across 160 acres of pasture and cropland, with access to a creek, trees, barns, and shelters. Their diet includes pasture plants and farm-grown crops, supplemented with grains and seeds; the farm states that it uses no corn or soy. BGFF also says its animals are raised without antibiotics, hormones, steroids, vaccines, or other drugs, and that it practices regenerative farming without chemicals on its land. The farm emphasizes humane care and does not use gestation stalls, farrowing crates, or tethering. Customers can also find recipes, FAQs, and contact information on the BGFF website.
