Blackhill Equine offers Equine Assisted Learning in Victoria’s Macedon Ranges, about an hour’s drive from Melbourne. Its nature-based, experiential sessions bring people and horses together to support personal growth, social-emotional learning, and professional development. Activities are tailored to each participant’s needs and goals, with opportunities to groom, lead, lunge, or simply spend time with the horses. The approach is intended to build skills such as communication, empathy, self-awareness, problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership through practical interaction and immediate feedback from the animals.
Sessions are led by Eva Parkin, a qualified Equine Assisted Learning practitioner and member of the International Institute for Complementary Therapies, who draws on decades of horsemanship experience. Blackhill Equine works with people of all ages and welcomes self-funded and plan-managed National Disability Insurance Scheme participants; Eva can align activities with therapeutic goals. The team includes horses Delhi, Catalina, and Charlie, as well as border collies Maggie and George.
