About Black Mental Health
The Black Mental Health Alliance (BMHA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing culturally relevant behavioral health care and improving access to support for Black communities. For more than four decades, it has served as a resource, advocate, and convener, working to address mental health needs at the intersection of culture and care. BMHA offers trusted mental health resources, educational materials, support programs, and equity-driven services, and connects individuals and families with traditional therapy and holistic practices.
Its work also includes neurodiversity support and healing-centered programs designed to strengthen Black children, families, and communities. Guided by a mission to build pathways to mental health, the Alliance promotes resilience, compassionate care, and collective well-being. Its vision is of thriving communities with equitable access to culturally rooted care, holistic approaches, and education that foster healing and connection.
Based in a commitment to community-centered impact, BMHA focuses on healing from intergenerational trauma and improving behavioral health outcomes, particularly across the Baltimore region, while contributing to the broader movement for behavioral health equity
