Black Public Media (BPM) is an award-winning organization that supports the creation and distribution of stories about the global Black experience. For nearly 50 years, it has worked with independent filmmakers and public television providers to develop documentaries, narrative films and digital shorts, and has expanded its work to include immersive media. Its aim is to bring Black creativity, history and perspectives to audiences through film, television and emerging formats.
BPM offers training, funding and other resources for media makers and creative technologists. Its programs include open calls, fellowships, residencies and talent-development opportunities, alongside education initiatives such as The Technically Brilliant Show. The organization also presents and distributes programming through projects including AfroPoP: The Ultimate Cultural Exchange, AfroPoP Digital Shorts, Be Heard podcasts, and the Pitch Black Awards. Audiences can explore films, trailers, podcasts and other works through its website, while creators can find information about support opportunities and events.
