BlackStar Orbital is a space company developing the BX-100, a reusable, autonomous space drone designed to carry payloads to low Earth orbit, support on-orbit operations, and return to a runway for recovery. The vehicle offers a powered payload bay with downlink, controlled reentry, and a stated turnaround of 48 hours. BlackStar describes three BX-100 configurations: the modular BX-100M for research and development, the BX-100D for defense missions, and the BX-100C for deploying CubeSats from 3U to 12U.
Its SpaceDrone service carries customer payloads to orbit, hosts them during a mission, and returns them to Earth. SpaceBox provides a certified container for products that customers want to test in space, without requiring them to engineer their own flight hardware. The company reports that its SpaceBox flew the Ready-Set-Jet payload on Axiom-4 and returned intact.
The first BX-100 flight article, OV-009, is undergoing qualification in Titusville, Florida. BlackStar also offers branded apparel and accepts mission-window requests through its website
