Blast Support

BLAST (Burntwood and Lichfield Autism Support Together) is an independent, grassroots charity supporting autistic young people, young adults, and their families across Staffordshire and surrounding areas. Run by parent carers, the organisation helps families navigate life in a neurotypical world by providing opportunities to connect, learn, and feel supported.

Its programme includes workshops for parents and carers, offering practical advice and knowledge about autism, alongside activities designed for autistic children and young adults. These include social and community events such as cinema days and meet-ups, as well as activities ranging from archery to paddle-boarding. BLAST aims to create safe, inclusive, and non-judgmental spaces that encourage social interaction, creativity, and emotional development.

Advocacy is also central to the charity’s work. BLAST works with local authorities, the NHS, and other organisations to improve services, accessibility, and inclusion. Through participation in advisory boards, it helps ensure autistic people’s voices inform policies and support. The charity also promotes greater autism awareness and acceptance throughout the local community.
