Bleakholt Official is an animal sanctuary located in Edenfield near Ramsbottom, Lancashire. Founded in 1957 by Olive Lomas, a compassionate woman who saved Maudie the donkey from slaughter, Bleakholt has grown to become one of the largest sanctuaries of its kind in the North West of England. With a sprawling fifty-five-acre site, Bleakholt provides a safe haven for up to 350 animals, ranging from dogs and cats to horses and farm animals.

At Bleakholt, they believe that every animal deserves a second chance, which is why they take in animals with health conditions or who are elderly. They strive to provide these animals with the best possible care, offering dedicated areas for older animals to make their stay feel more like a home. Additionally, Bleakholt provides sanctuary to animals that are unlikely to be rehomed due to age or illness, ensuring they have a loving and comfortable environment for the rest of their lives.

Notable supporters of Bleakholt include Gemma Atkinson, a renowned actress and animal lover, who has been actively involved in fundraising for the sanctuary. With the funds raised, Bleakholt is able to modernize and improve its facilities to better support the animals in its care.
