About Blegny-Mine Officiel
Blegny-Mine is a renowned brand that offers a fascinating glimpse into the history of coal mining. Located between Liège and Maastricht, Blegny-Mine is one of the four authentic coal mines in Europe that still allow visitors to explore underground galleries through the original mine shaft. Equipped with a jacket and helmet, you can descend 30 to 60 meters below ground level to experience the world of Gueules Noires (Black Faces).
Discover the tunnels, the noise of machinery, and the work of the miners during a guided tour. After resurfacing, you will follow the coal's journey through the sorting and washing facilities. From tipping bins to purification processes, you will witness the entire coal treatment, from arrival to transportation and sale.
Blegny-Mine is part of a group of four major mining sites in Wallonia, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since July 2012. With the support of the Province of Liège and the Wallonia Tourism Board, Blegny-Mine offers an immersive experience that showcases the rich mining heritage of the region
