The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) is North America’s oldest rail labor union, celebrating 160 years of service since its founding in 1863 in Detroit, Michigan. A division of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT), the BLET is dedicated to advocating for the rights, safety, and welfare of its members, which include locomotive engineers, conductors, and various train service employees across over 500 divisions in the United States.

The BLET ensures that its members are well-represented through organized local units, each led by elected officers responsible for negotiations and contract enforcement with their respective railroads. Additionally, the National Division plays a crucial role in federal legislative activities and collaborates with State Legislative Boards to address impacts on transportation safety and regulations.
