Founded in 1956, the company is currently based in New York City and produces its magazine in the United States.

Bon Appetit started as a liquor store giveaway back in 1956, which then moved on to a bi-monthly magazine in Chicago. Today, the magazine is an award-winning publication hailed as an "arbiter of taste," expanding its coverage to stories that include travel, technology, design, and home.

The magazine has around 6 million subscribers to its monthly publication and recently has added web and social media entertainment aside from its magazine.
