Blogalia

Blogalia is a Spanish-language blogging platform and community created to make publishing on the Internet accessible to people with ideas to share. Founded in 2001, it began when online publishing was less straightforward and few blog-hosting options were available in Spanish. Today, the site brings together independent blogs, known as bitácoras, and presents a directory of hosted publications alongside recent stories from across the community.

Topics reflected in its listings include science, books, culture, personal experiences, and current events. Blogalia provides a place for writers to publish and for readers to discover and follow their work, with user accounts supporting participation on the platform. The site has also marked its history through community gatherings and articles about blogging.

Its founders have described plans to update the platform’s software and release its code under a free-software licence, covering both its earlier PHP code and a newer Django version. Blogalia’s focus is on sustaining a Spanish-speaking network of bloggers and keeping personal online publishing available alongside newer forms of expression
