Bloom Native

Bloom is a field companion for gardeners who want to support local wildlife by choosing native plants. Its online guide ranks plants native to the United States according to the animals they support, giving priority to caterpillars and also accounting for bees, other hosts, food, flowers, and shelter. Gardeners can explore recommendations across trees, shrubs, vines, grasses and sedges, ground covers, and herbaceous plants, with examples ranging from willows and oaks to goldenrods and asters.

Bloom presents plant and wildlife information in practical comparisons, including the number of native species and animals associated with selected plant groups. Users can search plants, animals, and fungi, browse category rankings, and learn which species may be especially valuable to wildlife. The site also lets gardeners log what they plant and track the count of animals their garden supports over time. By connecting planting choices with ecological benefits, Bloom helps make wildlife-friendly gardening easier to explore and measure.
