Blue Acre Horse Rescue is a registered charity based in Old Windsor, Berkshire, dedicated to rescuing and caring for abused, neglected and abandoned horses and ponies. Founded in 2002, the charity provides a safe home where animals can recover, regain trust and receive individual care. Its team of volunteers works to rehabilitate each horse and assess whether it can be ridden, rehomed as a companion, or needs lifelong sanctuary. Horses live outdoors together in a large herd, allowing them to express natural behaviours. Blue Acre also cares for rescue goats, pigs and dogs.
The charity’s work includes rehabilitation, rehoming, ongoing care and public awareness. Supporters can contribute through donations, fundraising events, grants and a sponsorship programme, with horse and pony sponsorship available from £10 a month. The organisation also welcomes volunteers to help with animal care, farm maintenance, fundraising and outreach. As it relies wholly on public support, contributions help cover essential costs such as feed, hay, farriery and veterinary treatment.
