Blue Team Village (BTV) is a nonprofit community built by and for cyber defenders. Founded in 2018, it provides a global, safe, and inclusive space where people of all experience levels can share knowledge, learn, and support one another. Its mission centers on strengthening the defender community through education, encouragement, and connection.
BTV offers year-round defensive cybersecurity learning through Project Obsidian, a free program featuring workshops, hands-on labs, and a Capture the Flag competition. Venator Aurum provides a puzzle-driven CTF adventure built around interconnected challenges and a larger meta-puzzle. The organization also hosts a village at DEF CON, with educational content across multiple tracks; its 2026 event is scheduled for August 7–9 in Las Vegas.
Beyond its programs and events, BTV keeps its community connected through Discord and social media. As a 501(c)(3) public charity, it uses donations and sponsorships to support free defender education, community initiatives, and its DEF CON presence. Its guiding values include inclusion, integrity, transparency, education, and community.
