BNA science

The British Naturalists' Association (BNA), established in 1905, serves as the national body dedicated to the exploration and appreciation of British wildlife. With a mission to foster an understanding of the natural world, the BNA invites enthusiasts of all ages to engage in a broad range of activities that deepen their connection to the countryside. Members can participate in lectures, field trips, and hands-on events such as pond dipping and bat detecting, benefiting from the expertise of experienced naturalists.

In addition to these activities, the BNA publishes informative materials, including the bi-annual newsletter "British Naturalist" and the magazine "Country-Side," which bridges scientific research and accessible wildlife conservation topics. The association also recognizes members' achievements through a Grade Recognition scheme, offering awards that celebrate outstanding contributions to natural history. Whether you're a novice or a seasoned naturalist, the BNA provides a welcoming community and invaluable resources for those passionate about preserving and understanding the rich biodiversity of Britain.
