BN Ecology Ltd

BN Ecology is an ecological consultancy founded in January 2025 to provide practical advice and solutions for developers and land managers addressing ecological requirements and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG). Combining ecological expertise, environmental knowledge and civil engineering solutions, the company supports residential, commercial, listed-building, infrastructure and rural projects. Its clients include homeowners, architects, planning consultants, land agents, developers and contractors.

BN Ecology provides ecological support for development and land management, including advice on BNG submissions and habitat bank proposals. The team’s experience across private consultancy and local government helps it understand what planning authorities expect when reviewing ecological reports and BNG proposals. Director James Mansfield, a former Principal Ecologist for Somerset Council and co-author of its BNG guidance note, leads the consultancy.

Serving projects across England, BN Ecology aims to make the process clear and straightforward, with practical advice tailored to each project. It offers transparent, fixed fees, typically provides quotations within 24 hours of receiving basic project information, and aims to arrange site visits promptly and issue reports soon afterwards.
