La BNSC fournit une plate-forme de réflexion, de discussion et d’échanges autour des questions issues de la pratique et des tendances actuelles de la sculpture. Avec un champ d’action élargi, elle favorise la recherche et la production d’œuvres inédites. Son mandat est d'organiser, de diffuser et de promouvoir des expositions, des événements, des conférences et des ateliers de sensibilisation provenant du domaine éclaté de la pratique de la sculpture au Québec, au Canada et à l’étranger. La BNSC participe depuis plus de trente ans à la vie culturelle et contribue à sensibiliser et à faire accroître l'intérêt du public à l'égard de l'art contemporain.
