Board Game of the Year (BGotY) is a platform for discovering and comparing board games through rankings compiled from reviewers and content creators. It brings together hundreds of “Best of the Year” lists to create a shared leaderboard, with rankings for individual years and an all-time collection. The site explains its eligibility criteria and scoring system, and lets visitors explore full rankings, reviewer profiles, individual lists, and changes as new lists are added.

Users can compare their own picks with friends through Showdowns, find reviewers with similar tastes, and browse curated categories such as two-player games, nature-themed games, deck builders, party games, and games for larger groups. Game pages include details such as player counts, play times, ratings, designers, and links to reviews or videos. Additional features include a daily board-game-themed puzzle, community Top 10 lists, and tools for spotting hidden gems or filtering games by ownership and play history.

BGotY’s 2025 rankings drew on lists from hundreds of creators, with Galactic Cruise taking the top position.
