Bob Alper

Bob Alper is a stand-up comedian and ordained rabbi whose performances bring together clean humor, spiritual insight, and a distinctive perspective shaped by decades of experience. Described as the world’s only practicing clergyman intentionally performing stand-up, he offers thoughtful, accessible comedy for audiences across backgrounds and generations. His material is suitable for settings where many comedians’ edgier content may not be a fit.

Bob’s services include a solo 75-minute stand-up show and “The Spirituality of Laughter,” a program combining comedy with reflection. He performs at corporate events, synagogues, churches, schools, hospitals, conventions, civic gatherings, and private parties, and has made more than 300 college appearances. His career has taken him to venues and festivals in the United States and internationally, alongside comedians including Lewis Black, Susie Essman, and Mo Amer. He has also been featured on major television programs and heard regularly on SiriusXM for more than 15 years. With a Doctor of Ministry degree from Princeton Theological Seminary, Bob offers audiences an engaging blend of laughter, life experience, and spirituality.
