Bodmin Moorland Pony

Bodmin Moorland Pony Rehabilitation is a registered charity founded in April 2014 to support semi-feral ponies from Bodmin Moor. Now working across the South West and beyond, the organisation helps ponies affected by abandonment, fly grazing, neglect, and abuse. It became a registered charity in June 2016 and remains a small, entirely volunteer-run, not-for-profit organisation focused on equine welfare.

The charity provides sanctuary and individual care, helping ponies recover from trauma, illness, or neglect at their own pace. Its approach uses gentle, force-free, positive training to build trust and support each pony’s wellbeing. Ponies live outdoors in small, family-like groups, with care designed to respect their natural needs and give them freedom of choice. Where possible, the charity prepares them for rehoming as lifelong family companions; some remain in its care, while others may receive supported foster care. Bodmin Moorland Pony Rehabilitation also offers ways for the public to help, including donations, volunteering, sponsorship, membership, and rehoming.
