BoerenNatuur Flevoland

BoerenNatuur Flevoland is a farmer-led cooperative that has supported nature-conscious agriculture in the Dutch province of Flevoland since 2015, when it began as Flevolands Agrarisch Collectief. It is responsible for implementing the Agrarian Nature and Landscape Management scheme (ANLb), through which members can apply for compensation for managing farmland in ways that benefit nature and landscapes. The cooperative also works as a knowledge partner and advocate for financially viable agriculture that is balanced with nature, connecting and advising farmers, public authorities and other stakeholders.

Its management options include wet areas, winter food plots, bird plots, herb-rich field margins, sustainable ditch management and soil improvement. BoerenNatuur Flevoland also develops and participates in projects addressing soil structure, climate, circular farming, nature, functional agricultural biodiversity and salinity. It shares practical resources, including guidance on establishing and managing perennial field margins, which can support soil and water quality, biodiversity and pest control. Through membership, project participation, monitoring and knowledge exchange, the organization helps farmers pursue sustainable land management and opportunities for agricultural nature conservation.
