About Bohman Bee Company
Bohman Bee Company, a family-owned brand, has been in the beekeeping industry for four generations. It all started during World War II when Harry Bohman, faced with a sugar shortage, turned to beekeeping as an alternative. The war disrupted imports from the Philippines and diverted cargo ships from Hawaii for military purposes.
In response, the U. S. government issued ration books with sugar stamps to prevent hoarding.
Harry utilized these stamps to trade for fuel and tires for his farming equipment. Passing on the tradition, Harry's son Paul explored beekeeping as a hobby until the mid-1980s when his bees inexplicably perished. Undeterred, Paul's youngest son, Joe, revived the beekeeping venture in 2010, successfully keeping hives alive and expanding their numbers.
Joe's older brother, John, joined him, and together they began selling honey locally. Today, Bohman Bee Company owns and manages over 200 hives in southern Indiana, offering their raw, local honey in more than 50 stores across several states. With a commitment to preserving the unique taste of each harvest, Bohman Bee Company delivers the essence of Indiana's changing seasons in every bottle
