Bolboretas

Bolboretas A Coruña is a nonprofit sports and cultural association for people who have experienced or are living with breast cancer, with no age limit. It is the first Dragon Boat association in A Coruña and Galicia, bringing members together to paddle, build strength and support one another. The initiative began in May 2021, inspired by the health benefits of upper-body exercise for people affected by breast cancer.

The association offers on-water and land-based training, and takes part in Dragon Boat competitions. It also organizes talks, workshops, social gatherings and other activities that encourage learning, connection and shared experience. Its mission is to support physical, emotional and social wellbeing through sport and community.

The association highlights potential benefits including stronger upper-body muscles, improved confidence and body image, greater independence, and a renewed sense of agency during recovery. Bolboretas works with local health, university and sports organizations, and has Dragon Boats with capacities of 22 and 12 paddlers.
