Bont Huijs

Bont Huijs Contemporary Art Gallery is an owner-managed gallery in Die Wilgers, Pretoria, established in 2005. It focuses on contemporary South African art and presents work by both emerging and established artists. With more than 300 original artworks, the gallery offers collectors and visitors a varied collection of paintings, drawings, prints, mixed-media pieces, sculptures and other art objects. Featured works span styles and materials, from abstract compositions and landscape-inspired pieces to figurative and surrealist art.

Bont Huijs also hosts exhibitions, including solo shows, and maintains a changing roster of artists and new arrivals. Its gallery space is a 220-square-metre contemporary venue in Halfway Ridge Square on Lynnwood Road. The gallery describes its pricing model as the artist’s cost plus a 10% commission, with the aim of making art more accessible while recognising the value of the maker’s work. In addition to viewing and purchasing artworks, visitors can explore artist profiles, gallery news and exhibitions, and learn about conservation.
