About Borderzine
This is a story about basketball Hall of Famer Tim Hardaway and El Paso's significant role in shaping America. Near the end of a memorable evening, fans capturing photos as television cameras were turned off, Tim Hardaway tried on the iconic orange blazer given to Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductees. While the jacket may not have been his style, it was a symbolic representation of his achievement.
Hardaway, known for his killer crossover move, had finally received the recognition he deserved. However, his path to induction was not without its challenges. In 2007, his controversial remarks about homosexuality caused a delay in his recognition.
Nonetheless, his journey led him back to El Paso, a city with a rich sports history and a significant population on an international border. Through the story of Tim Hardaway, we explore the impact of sports on social change and the remarkable role of El Paso in shaping American culture
