Bori Muy Ltd is a Traditional Owner-led, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisation based in Cairns. Its work focuses on culturally safe programs and support that strengthen cultural knowledge, social and emotional wellbeing, and connections among young people, families and communities. Through youth activities, mentoring, On-Country camps, boxing, after-hours engagement and cultural experiences, Bori Muy helps young people learn about their identity, heritage and place within community.
The organisation aims to foster belonging, confidence, resilience, positive relationships and strong support networks by connecting young people with culture, community and Country. Its support can extend from initial engagement and mentoring towards education, training and employment pathways. Bori Muy’s approach recognises that positive change for young people can also benefit their families and communities across generations.
The organisation acknowledges the Gimuy Walubara Yidinji people as the Traditional Custodians of the Country where it works and gathers, and pays respect to Elders past and present and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
