Borneo Marathon

Borneo International Marathon is a community-driven running event in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia, organised by the Kinabalu Running Club (KRC). Launched in 2008, its flagship marathon takes place annually in May and welcomes runners from around the world to experience Borneo’s landscapes and culture. The event has grown from 529 participants to more than 10,000 runners annually, supported by over 1,000 volunteers. Its information and services include race categories, route maps, eligibility guidance, race-pack collection details, race-day information, results, and media updates.

KRC also co-organises the Borneo Half Marathon with Kota Kinabalu City Hall in February, celebrating Kota Kinabalu City Day. Both races are sanctioned by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races. Beyond these events, the club runs fun runs, charity activities, and fitness initiatives, promoting health, inclusion, and community connection. Through partnerships with local charities and NGOs, its work supports education and sustainability goals and has raised more than RM1.2 million for 36 charitable organisations.
