Bosque del Cine is an environmental and community project in Udías, Cantabria, focused on restoring native woodland and strengthening local biodiversity. More than a conventional reforestation effort, it brings together ecological regeneration, sustainable forest management, education, and nature-based tourism. The project covers 22 hectares, with its first phase planned to begin in 2023 on a 10-hectare plot. Its planting plan includes more than 11,000 native trees, beginning with a parcel developed in collaboration with the Academy of Cinema, which is intended to serve as the entrance to the woodland.
Bosque del Cine also aims to provide educational opportunities for the community. Plans include a learning space, school visits, summer courses, and other activities that introduce participants to Cantabria’s natural environment and biodiversity. The site is also intended to offer training in responsible forest management and ecological restoration. A network of trails, with educational signs about local ecology and the films and projects that have supported the planting, will help visitors explore the woodland.
