The Botanical Garden of the University of Ljubljana, established in 1810, is an essential haven for plant biodiversity and education. Spanning 37 hectares, this garden serves as a repository for diverse plant species, including rare and endangered varieties. It features beautifully curated sections such as the Tropical Greenhouse, which is open daily, showcasing a variety of tropical plants, and the Tivoli Greenhouse, although currently closed for renovations.

The garden is active in public engagement, hosting a variety of events, workshops, and exhibitions throughout the year, including seasonal markets and educational activities. Recent initiatives include restoration projects and conservation efforts aimed at preserving both native and exotic plant species. The garden has faced challenges, particularly with infrastructure developments threatening its land, but continuous advocacy aims to secure its future. Visitors can explore the rich flora while participating in programs designed to foster appreciation for nature and conservation.
