Boumgaerd

D’n Boumgaerd is a residential care home in Velden, the Netherlands, welcoming its first residents in November 2023. Set among trees and fruit-bearing plants in a food forest, it offers a welcoming place to live for older people who need additional care, including people with dementia and physical limitations. Its guiding principle, “Caring Together, Living Together,” reflects an approach focused on dignity, personal attention, and a homelike sense of family and community.

Care is shaped collaboratively by residents, their families, local volunteers, and professional caregivers. The home aims to create a supportive, protected household while encouraging residents to enjoy everyday life. Activities balance stimulation and relaxation, and include exercise and walks, music, creative and cultural sessions, culinary activities, local outings, and shared celebrations of familiar holidays. Residents can also access services such as physiotherapy, dental care, hairdressing, occupational therapy, and dietetic support, arranged in consultation.
