Bowmen of Danesfield is an archery club based at Danesfield School in Williton, serving West Somerset and nearby communities including Minehead, Watchet, Taunton and Bridgwater. Established more than 25 years ago as a small after-school club, it has grown into a welcoming group for people of all ages and abilities, from first-time archers to experienced competitors. The club offers regular shooting sessions several days a week, with members and guest archers able to book a place.
Outdoor practice takes place on the school playing fields in summer, while winter sessions are held in the school gym. Newcomers are welcome, and the club also hosts “have-a-go” sessions for visiting groups. Its activities include recreational and competitive archery, the 252 Award Scheme, a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award pathway, tournaments and friendly shoots.
Members can access information on archery rounds, range safety, scoring, handicaps, classifications and club records. Club news highlights achievements, personal bests, awards and competitions, reflecting a community focused on learning, participation and shared enjoyment of the sport
