The British Philosophical Association (BPA), established in 2003, is dedicated to promoting the teaching, study, and research of philosophy across the United Kingdom. With a commitment to engaging the philosophical community, the BPA facilitates constructive dialogues with various academic bodies and institutions. Under the leadership of its current President, Professor Fiona Macpherson from the University of Glasgow, the BPA supports not only individual philosophers but also institutional members and learned societies.
The association fosters a vibrant philosophical culture through diverse activities, resources, and initiatives designed to enhance the study of philosophy in higher education and beyond. Since becoming a registered charity in April 2024, the BPA continues to strengthen its community, offering opportunities for membership to those passionate about philosophy. Members include universities and organizations dedicated to advancing philosophical discourse. Through its robust network, the BPA plays a crucial role in elevating the standards of philosophy education and research throughout the UK.
