The Borderline Personality Disorder Society of British Columbia began with just a single meeting of a support group held in Victoria on April 13, 2010. From that single group in Victoria, the organization has expanded throughout BC, providing vital peer support to communities in Nanaimo, Vancouver, New Westminster, and beyond. Co-founded in 2012 by Baylie McKnight & Elizabeth Bogod, the Society was born from the recognition of the significant gaps in service that exists for a particularly highly stigmatized population and their loved ones. In addition to helping to bridge the gap between services and service-users in our communities, BPDBC equally responds to the continuing need for education, greater awareness, and destigmatizing and trauma-informed approaches to supporting people living with borderline personality disorder. The Borderline Personality Disorder Society of British Columbia is a registered non-profit charitable organization with an active Board of Directors and growing portfolio of accessible programs, both volunteer- (Peer Support Groups) and practitioner-led (DBT Skills Groups).

The Borderline Personality Disorder Society of BC is a registered charity founded in 2012 to address gaps in services for people living with borderline personality disorder (BPD) and their loved ones. The Society offers support, information, hope, and validation grounded in shared experience. Its peer-led support groups connect community members, while advocacy and navigation support help people access appropriate services. The organization also runs multi-skills Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) groups for adults and a skills group for people who have completed DBT.
Beyond direct support, the Society provides education and resources to the wider community. Its speaker’s bureau works with medical professionals, schools, and non-profit organizations to explain BPD, distinguish facts from misconceptions, and share ways to support people living with the condition. The Society aims to reduce stigma through public education based on current evidence about BPD and its treatments. It also encourages community engagement and access to services, supporting people with BPD in building lives they consider worth living.
